Autumn Leaves op. 29 N°1 – Vladimir REBIKOV

Play Video

Vladimir Ivanovich Rebikov was a late romantic 20th-century Russian composer and pianist.

Autumn leaves are 6 melancholic and ambivalent pieces. There are a lot of Chopin influences but also some Rachmaninov and Scriabin (the last piece). Then, jazz harmonies and fourths as always at some points. There are all beautiful, in particular the N°1 , Con tristezza.

Why are they so unknown, it is so unfair!! Of course they don’t reach a level of Rachmaninov or so, but they are very solid and modernistic pieces which deserve to be played more often.
