Chopin composed this refined and mysterious waltz between 1843 and 1848. The memory inspires a musical summit here, leading Chopin to chisel the statement of an inner song that is both modest and intimate, expressed with infinite delicacy. The character is veiled, woven in vague mists between hope, sadness, and deep melancholy. The author seems to bid farewell in this piece. The Waltz in A Minor is a posthumous opus whose score was not published until 1955, but it is now one of Chopin’s most famous works.
