Lesson 2: Breathing Life into the Melody – The Main Theme
Now that you’ve grounded yourself in the foundation of the piece, it’s time to find its "heart."
In this lesson, we introduce the iconic main melody of Requiem for a Dream.
Following my progressive method, we will start by learning this haunting theme in its simplest form.
You’ll learn how to identify the four key notes that define the motif and how to integrate the left-hand chords we mastered in Lesson 1.
We will then begin "enriching" the arrangement, moving from single notes to filling the beats with harmony.
The goal here isn't just hitting the right keys—it's about learning to "hum" the rhythm in your mind so you can play with true emotional intent.
