Lesson 3 - Bars 19 to 29
Welcome to Lesson 3 of The Summer Knows (Summer of ’42).
In this lesson, we move into one of the most expressive and technically flowing sections of the piece. The music begins to expand across the keyboard, requiring greater fluidity, coordination, and control between both hands.
We’ll work carefully on the ascending passages and develop smooth cascading sequences, ensuring that each note connects naturally while maintaining clarity of sound. Particular attention will be given to balance, hand positioning, and the cross-hand technique, allowing you to move confidently and seamlessly across the keyboard.
This section asks for both technical precision and emotional sensitivity. Take your time to keep the movement relaxed and the phrasing lyrical. As always, focus not only on playing the notes accurately, but on shaping the musical line with intention and expression.
Step by step, we are building toward a full and refined interpretation of this beautiful piece.
This lesson is available in the complete piano kit
